3 Easy Claw Clip Hairstyles: Twist, Half-Up and Low Bun
A claw clip can make everyday styling simpler. These three styles let you change how much hair you gather, so you can adapt them to your clip and hair density. Start with detangled hair and keep the tension comfortable.
1. The everyday French twist
- Gather your hair into a low ponytail without an elastic.
- Twist the gathered hair and lift it up the back of your head.
- Fold the ends into the twist or leave them loosely above it.
- Open the clip fully, place the teeth around the centre of the twist and release gently.
For a fuller twist, compare the 13 cm banana claw clip. If the hinge feels strained, use less hair or choose a half-up style.
2. A relaxed half-up style
- Gather the top section of your hair from above your ears.
- Twist the section once or twice at the back of your head.
- Secure the twist with a clip while leaving the lower section loose.
- Adjust the gathered section so it feels balanced and comfortable.
The Korean Style Acetate Claw Clip is one option for twists and half-up styles. On fine hair, adjust the section size so the clip has enough hair to hold.
3. A simple low bun
- Gather hair at the nape of your neck.
- Twist it gently and coil it into a loose bun.
- Position the clip across a section of the bun and the hair beneath it.
- Check that the teeth sit comfortably and the bun does not pull at the roots.
A 10 cm claw clip can be used for everyday buns and twists when the amount of hair fits its opening.
If your clip slips or pulls
Change the amount of hair inside the clip and reposition its teeth. A clip that works for a half-up style may not fit a full bun. Stop and adjust if it pinches or feels tight; a secure hairstyle should still feel comfortable.
Which style should I try first?
Start with half-up styling if you are unsure about clip size. It is easy to adjust the section before trying a fuller twist or bun. Browse our claw clip collection and clip selection guide for more help.
